Hometown Pride – Oral Roberts University

Tulsa Oklahoma is home to Oral Roberts University, an interdenominational, Christian, comprehensive liberal arts university. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) and has an enrollment of just over 3,000 students.

The school is situated between East 75th Street and East 81st Street, on South Lewis Avenue The students have not only a solid education but a beautiful campus, but more than 65 undergraduate degrees to choose from as well as a several masters and doctoral degrees to study as well.

Oral Roberts founded the ORU in 1965 as a result of hearing God’s word instructing him to do so. Carnegie Foundation for Advancement of Teaching classified ORU as Master’s University. In 2012, The Princeton Review ranked the as one of 123 institutions “Best in the West” regionally.

The Education Shows

The average GPA is 3.4 for the students in the College of Science and Engineering. That have over 85% acceptance rate to medical school and over 70% dental school acceptance rate. Students graduating from ORU have been accepted bin over 70 medical schools across the country, including prestigious universities like Duke, John Hopkins and Washington.

Since 2011, ORU and Oklahoma State University have an early assurance program for the Osteopathic Medicine which allows students that are high achievers to receive conditional admission in to the medical program at OSU. Students in this field are privileged to have a human cadaver dissection class. Even though ORU is a Christian University, the study of evolutionary theories to teach Creationism is a part of the the College of Science and Engineering curriculum.
